Resiliency

Resilience describes the ability to recover quickly from challenging situations such as depression, a loss, or some illness. There are various personality traits that make an individual resilient. At the heart of resiience is a belief in oneself--yet also a belief in something higher than oneself defined as the Universe, God, etc. Usually resilinet persons find resilience by moving towards a purpose beyond themselves and are willing to transcend pain and struggles as a temporary state of life. I

It is possible for any person to strengthen the inner self and to develop a sense of mastery. Preparing for emotional emergency by accepting what comes and is not in our control with a kind of flexibility will a person "rather bend than break".

1. They know who they are and separate stress or trauma as a temporary suffering from their Identity.

2. They surround themselves with supportive individuals who calming and nurture them.

3. They foster self-awareness to get in touch with their needs and seek help if beneficial.

4. They practice acceptance of painful events and learn to experience the full range of emotions trusting that they will work through and bounce back. 

5. They will find peace if they do not have all the answers to difficult questions such as traumatic events or injustice. 

6. They are practicing mindfulness and enjoy sitting in silence-being in the moment without judgment or avoidance. 

7. They practice self-care and nourish their body, mind, and soul.

8. They support others and seek out to other if they need help. 

9. They emphasize the possibilities that are available to shape our interpretation. 

10. They keep strategies to express themselves instead of keeping their thoughts and feelings within themselves.
